NDAA Lawsuit Media Blackout |
There is a media blackout on the lawsuit journalist Tangerine Bolen and seven other plaintiffs against Barack Obama’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
Bringing you news on court corruption and media blackouts happening around the Globe. However, corruption is not just reserved for the courts any more than media-blackouts would be specific to any one city, state or nation. Therefore, I will also share articles not specifically related to court corruption along with conspiracy/ theory/theorists from time-to-time.

Truth is the first casualty of war, and that’s equally true for people whose job is to speak the truth. Journalists covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict often face pressure and obstruction, preventing the two sides from understanding each other.

Do news blackouts help journalists held captive? - Journalist Security - Committee to Protect Journalists
At any given time over the past two years, as wars raged in Libya and then Syria, and as other conflicts ground on in South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, a number of journalists have been held captive by a diverse array of forces, from militants and rebels to criminals and paramilitaries. And at any given time, a small handful of these cases--sometimes one or two, sometimes more--have been purposely kept out of the news media. That is true today.

Note: I was also disappointed on how this 'played out in the media' given that (among other stories) a City of North Tonawanda High School Teacher (Arthur J Harack) who was arrested in 2011 under Leandra's Law, was allowed to 'plea down' in 2012, and is still teaching in the classroom where, among other things, he wears an alcohol monitoring bracelet received barely no media coverage other than what I incorporated into my articles here.

Letter: Cameras in court crucial to reviews - Times Union
Through his recently announced legislative initiative, Chief Judge Jonathan Lippman seeks to allow cameras into open court proceedings with a few caveats, recording would need the judge's permission and there would be provisions for concealing faces of jurors and of subpoenaed witnesses. I believe such restrictions are wrong and run contrary to the reason Judge Lippman started the initiative, which was to allow the public outside of open court proceedings to see what the public inside the courtroom sees.

What would you think if you did something that appeared to be perfectly legal, only to find yourself, two years later, being raided, handcuffed, denied bail, denounced as a freak in your hometown newspaper, and threatened with five to twenty years in prison? What if, to your total shock, the reason for all this turns out to be that prosecutors had decided to aggressively reinterpret an existing law, one that lawyers had stated you would not be breaking? What would you think if there were dozens of cases like yours, and yet the authorities involved were making every possible effort to keep you and the public from finding out them and about their true nature?

The plot has thickened in the convoluted story of a media blackout concerning a secret U.S. military base in Saudi Arabia.
